Final Cut Pro X is making quite a stir in the post-production community. Final Cut Pro 7.0 has become the standard in many production companies. It was the editing system of choice for Divination. The main complaints, I gather, are that they've changed so many things, and removed so many features, that it's no longer a professional application. Personally, I wouldn't try to make feature film on it, it seems much more suited to the "straight from camera to YouTube" workflow.
But the best responses I've seen are these two:
Ron Brinkmann, who developed the compositing software Shake that was eventually bought by Apple, has a unique perspective on the Apple mentality.
And I love this video response:
Time to dive into Adobe Premiere Pro.

At Skillset Animation they are providing for free the Core Skills of VFX Handbook.
It's a great guide on the essentials of the VFX industry. It's intended for those just starting in the industry, but there are several things inside that I found enlightening.
From their site:
The handbook has been produced following a sustained dialogue between Skillset, the industry and educators. It is a clear presentation of the VFX industry's voice on new entrant skills, setting out what skills the industry needs to remain world beating.
This might be online for a limited time. Grab it now.

This is a great piece on how to be inspired at your desk. It's self aware but it gets to practical things like avoiding fluorescent lighting, using an Analog Desk, room tone, and more! A must for anyone who works at a desk.

BTW. Interesting bonus at the end after the credits.
